Grants
When I started teaching at LAUSD / USC Media Arts & Engineering Magnet, the Media Arts & Film Dept was just beginning. With a meager collection of eight point-and-shoot cameras and one Filmmaking Class, we improvised to the best of our ability with the limited equipment. I knew film equipment is expensive, so I challenged myself to write a couple grants to expand the scope of our department. Four years later and with over $680,00 in winning grants, our program now functions like a mini studio, complete with professional camera, editing, lighting, audio, and grip equipment.
